Monday Morning Music Songs – mOUNTbRENDON

April 29, 2013

This weeks week’s Monday Morning Music Song is a shameless act of self promotion in honor of my first Portland show later this week.

My friend Brandon Zook and I made this video last summer in Florida. Sometimes you write a song that you can only sense there’s something to, but it’s not until some time passes that you really grow to appreciate it. This is one of those songs for me.

Enjoy.

The More You Know

Stay in, stay in;

keeping the fire out,

and bring the fire in.

I’m just a hermit in a room

waiting for something new.

These walls, these walls

reflect what I care for,

efface all that I know,

restate the metaphor,

restate the metaphor.

Light up, light up

the book and the coffee mug,

a frame and a whisky jug,

the walls cover the panes.

Look out, looking out

the darkness I fought off,

a distance to write off.

It’s soft as a stained cloth;

let the room, the lights go blind

A ghost appears, a ghost,

and outside the window

it shows the night glow,

the tree and the star flow;

it tells me what I (need to) know.

Make sure the more you know, the less you know…
